Hilltop Family Seeking 30-40 Hours A Week
Location: Cherry Creek / Hilltop neighborhood
Job Type: Part-Time / Full Time (30 hours per week, with potential for additional hours if the candidate prefers).
Job Summary:
Family of 4 is searching for a caring, loving, and patient Full-Time Nanny to care for their two sons (6 and 3 years old). Their ideal candidate will be someone who enjoys letting the boys lead their play while also offering fun and creative ideas to enhance or redirect activities when needed. They are looking for a long-term commitment of at least two years if possible, with flexibility in hours and responsibilities as the boys’ schedules and needs evolve.
Key Responsibilities -
Childcare Duties:
Engage with the boys in a nurturing, supportive manner, providing a balance of structured and spontaneous activities.
Plan and participate in activities based on their interests.
Assist with daily routines including meal preparation, dressing, and playtime.
Household Responsibilities:
Perform light household tasks related to the children, such as tidying play areas, laundry (including folding and putting away the boys' clothes), meal prep, and cleaning up after playtime.
Run errands such as grocery pick-up and library returns.
Occasionally make the boys' beds and help with other miscellaneous tasks as needed.
Communication:
Maintain open and regular communication with parents regarding the children’s activities, behavior, and any concerns.
Coordinate with parents about their availability for the children, especially if the children need comfort or support.
Schedule -
School Year:
Full days: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from approximately 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
Shorter days: Tuesday and Thursday from approximately 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
Flexibility to increase hours up to 35-40 per week, including additional household tasks during times when the boys are not home.
Summer:
Ideally, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM Monday through Friday.
Compensation and Benefits -
$28-30/hr
8 paid holidays per year
2 weeks paid vacation
48 hours paid sick leave per year
Additional Benefits:
Reimbursement for mileage/expenses
Holiday/retention bonus at the end of the year
Guarantee of pay even when the family is out of town (guaranteed hours)
Qualifications & Family Dynamics -
Experience:
Previous experience as a nanny or in a childcare setting preferred.
Experience with toddlers / school aged children is a plus.
Certification in CPR and First Aid.
Skills:
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to engage in imaginative and creative play.
Comfortable with light household tasks and potential future pet care.
Open-minded and adaptable, with a patient and gentle approach to discipline.
Personal Traits:
Dependable, kind, and enthusiastic.
Patient and able to model gentle, responsive parenting.
Enjoys a calm, loving environment and able to handle the occasional busy or stressful day with grace.
Family Dynamics:
Parent #1 works from home and has a separate office in the basement. Parent #2 (a doctor) has a variable schedule but is mostly gone during the day.
Cameras are installed in common areas and outside, and the nanny will be made aware of their locations.
At this time, mom doesn’t want a nanny to drive the kids anywhere but is open to outings as a relationship develops and trust is built.
Parental Involvement:
The mom prefers to be available for the boys as much as possible and does not mind interruptions for comfort or brief visits. The nanny should be comfortable working with this dynamic and be able to handle situations where the boys might seek out the parent.
