The Family

A warm family of four in Denver’s West Highlands neighborhood is seeking a reliable, kind, and engaging Part-Time Nanny / Family Assistant to support their household and care for their two children, ages 4 and 2.

Both children attend a preschool located just down the street from the family’s home. They are bright, curious, well-adjusted children who get along well and thrive with a predictable routine. The family is looking for someone who can establish a genuine bond with the children and become a trusted, long-term part of their household.

One parent works outside the home full-time, while the other works full-time from a dedicated home office. The children understand and are respectful of the work-from-home arrangement.

The family also has one friendly dog; no pet care is required.

Schedule

The standard schedule will be:

Monday–Friday, 2:00–6:00 PM

The family guarantees a minimum of 20 hours per week and is open to some flexibility based on the right candidate’s availability.

School pickup typically takes place around 3:00 PM. The hour before pickup can be used for family-assistant responsibilities such as grocery pickup, children’s laundry, meal preparation, light household organization, or errands.

The position will include later evening care every Wednesday and every other Friday, generally through the children’s bedtime. The family can adjust hours elsewhere in the week to accommodate these later evenings while maintaining the guaranteed weekly schedule.

Occasionally, extended family members may handle Friday school pickup. When this happens, the family will coordinate alternative household responsibilities or redistribute hours earlier in the week.

Primary Responsibilities

The children’s safety, emotional well-being, and care will always be the top priority.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Picking the children up from preschool

  • Providing attentive and nurturing after-school care

  • Planning creative, age-appropriate activities

  • Preparing snacks, meals, and lunches for the children

  • Supporting the children’s established routines

  • Handling the children’s laundry

  • Tidying play areas and cleaning up after meals and activities

  • Assisting with the children’s bedtime routines during later evenings

  • Maintaining calm, clear, and consistent boundaries

  • Communicating openly with the parents about the children’s days and needs

Family Assistant Responsibilities

Before school pickup and whenever childcare needs allow, the family would appreciate help with:

  • Grocery shopping and grocery pickup

  • Family errands

  • Children’s meal preparation

  • Children’s laundry and organization

  • Light housekeeping and general household tidying

  • Keeping frequently used household and children’s areas organized

  • Anticipating tasks that will help the household run smoothly

Candidates who are comfortable assisting with family meal preparation and the parents’ laundry are strongly preferred. The family is also open to expanding the position’s responsibilities based on the candidate’s interests, strengths, and experience.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will be:

  • Reliable, punctual, and consistent

  • Kind, compassionate, and trustworthy

  • Experienced and confident caring for a toddler and preschooler simultaneously

  • Creative and enthusiastic about planning activities

  • Comfortable working in a home with a work-from-home parent

  • Calm and consistent when setting boundaries

  • Proactive and willing to assist with household needs

  • An open and respectful communicator

  • Interested in building a meaningful, long-term relationship with the family

The family hopes to find someone they can trust, welcome into their lives, and consider an extension of their family.

Driving and Travel

The nanny may use either their own reliable vehicle or a family-provided vehicle while working. If a personal vehicle is used, the candidate must have a valid driver’s license, a safe driving record, and appropriate automobile insurance.

The family may eventually invite the nanny to travel with them, but travel is not an immediate requirement. This possibility would only be discussed after a strong relationship and mutual trust have been established.
