About the Family & Role

A wonderful South Denver family is looking for a dependable, engaging, and proactive after-school nanny/family assistant to support their household throughout the school year.

The family has two girls—one in high school and one in 6th grade—who attend two different schools. As the girls have gotten older and their schedules have evolved, the family is looking for someone who can help keep their afternoons organized, provide transportation, assist with homework, and make sure everything runs smoothly between school and evening activities.

The girls’ mother is a retired Registered Nurse who has multiple sclerosis (MS) and will generally be home during the nanny’s working hours. Her energy and level of involvement can vary from day to day. At times, she may be resting or sleeping for much of the afternoon and will rely more heavily on the nanny to independently manage the girls’ schedules and household needs. On other days, she may feel well and want to be actively involved in spending time with the girls and participating in their afternoon or evening routine.

This is not a personal care or caregiving position for Mom. The nanny’s responsibilities are centered around the girls and light household/family assistant support. However, it is important that the person stepping into this role is comfortable working alongside a parent who is regularly present in the home and can naturally adapt to Mom being more or less involved depending on how she is feeling that day.

Reliability is particularly important to this family. Because of Mom’s health and the family's custody arrangement, they need someone they can genuinely count on to be present and ensure the girls have consistent transportation, supervision, and support.

The family has had wonderful long-term childcare support and currently has two weekend nannies whom they adore.Their previous weekday helper has transitioned into a permanent full-time position, creating an opening for someone new to become a consistent part of the girls’ weekly routine.

This role would be a great fit for someone who genuinely enjoys working with preteen and teenage girls, is comfortable taking initiative, and can strike a healthy balance between independently managing the afternoon and working collaboratively with Mom when she wants to be involved.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include:

  • Picking the girls up from their respective schools

  • Driving to and from extracurricular activities and appointments as needed

  • Dropping the girls off at their dad’s home around 5:30 PM on applicable days

  • Providing homework help and general after-school support

  • Preparing and enjoying dinner with the girls on Tuesdays

  • Helping the girls stay organized with school, activities, and belongings

  • Completing light housekeeping and family laundry during available time

  • Tidying up after the girls and helping maintain an organized household

  • Providing a warm, positive, and dependable presence throughout the afternoon

Because much of the position involves transportation, candidates must have a reliable vehicle, valid driver’s license, and strong driving record.

Household & Environment

  • Two school-aged girls: one high schooler and one 6th grader

  • No pets

  • Smoke-free household

  • Professional house cleaning is already provided

  • Established weekend childcare support is already in place

Compensation & Benefits

  • $30+/hour DOE

  • 20 guaranteed hours per week

  • Consistent Monday–Thursday schedule

  • No regularly scheduled Fridays

  • School breaks and vacations off in accordance with the girls’ school calendar

  • Potential opportunity for additional weekend hours when mutually desired

Ideal Candidate

The family would love to find someone who is:

  • Exceptionally reliable and punctual

  • Warm, fun, engaging, and able to connect naturally with older children

  • Comfortable working with both a middle schooler and high schooler

  • Organized and proactive

  • Confident managing multiple school pickups, activities, and schedules

  • Happy to assist with light household tasks and laundry

  • Comfortable helping with homework and encouraging good routines

  • A safe and responsible driver with a reliable vehicle

  • Interested in providing consistent support for the entire school year

  • Potentially open to occasional weekend care

This is a wonderful opportunity for someone looking for a consistent, guaranteed part-time schedule with older children rather than traditional full-day nanny care. The family highly values their caregivers and is hoping to find someone who can become a trusted, dependable part of their weekly routine.
