FAQ’s

We believe successful placements are built on relationships, not resumes alone. Our process goes beyond basic screening and background checks by taking the time to understand each family's values, lifestyle, parenting philosophy, and long-term goals. We then thoughtfully match families with candidates based on both qualifications and compatibility. We also remain available after placement to provide guidance and support, helping families and employees build successful long-term working relationships.
-
As involved as you'd like to be. We handle recruiting, screening, reference checks, and candidate presentation, but you ultimately decide who joins your household. Families typically participate in interviews and the final hiring decision, while we provide guidance and support throughout the process.
-
We typically recommend beginning your search 6–8 weeks before your desired start date. This allows ample time to identify, screen, interview, and thoughtfully evaluate candidates while ensuring both families and caregivers can make informed decisions. While some searches are completed more quickly, timelines can vary depending on factors such as scheduling availability, responsiveness throughout the process, and current market conditions. Our goal is never to make the fastest placement—it's to make the right placement.

Professional nannies are skilled childcare providers who play a significant role in a child's growth, development, safety, and daily routine. Many career nannies have years of hands-on experience, college degrees, specialized certifications, continuing education, and extensive references that demonstrate their expertise.
Unlike daycare centers or group childcare settings, a nanny provides individualized, one-on-one care tailored specifically to your family's schedule, parenting style, and children's unique needs. They often assist with developmental activities, transportation, household organization related to the children, meal preparation, and creating a consistent, nurturing environment within your home.
Because a nanny is a household employee and childcare is their profession, their compensation reflects the experience, reliability, and personalized care they provide. While there are many childcare options available, having a dedicated caregiver focused exclusively on your family offers a level of convenience, flexibility, and individualized attention that is unique to in-home care.
-
Guaranteed hours means a nanny is paid for an agreed-upon number of hours each week, even if the family does not always need care during those hours. This provides income stability for the nanny and helps families attract and retain high-quality candidates. Guaranteed hours are considered a standard benefit in professional nanny positions and are one of the most important components of a competitive job offer.

Our goal is to provide exceptional service and successful placements—not simply take on as many searches as possible. Before beginning a search, we carefully evaluate whether we believe we can realistically help a family find and retain the type of candidate they are seeking.
In some cases, factors such as compensation, schedule requirements, location, job expectations, or current market conditions may make it unlikely that we can successfully fill a position. When that happens, we believe it's more honest and respectful to communicate that upfront rather than accept a search that we do not feel confident completing.
A declined search does not mean there is anything wrong with your family's needs or preferences. It simply means we do not believe we are the best resource for your specific situation at that time. Whenever possible, we are happy to explain our reasoning, offer guidance, and recommend alternative resources that may be helpful in your search.
-
This varies based on the position, the nanny's experience, and the needs of your family. In most cases, a nanny's primary responsibility is the safety, well-being, and development of the children in their care. However, many nannies are happy to assist with child-related household tasks such as organizing play areas, preparing children's meals, washing bottles, children's laundry, tidying bedrooms and playrooms, and managing supplies.
Some nannies may also be willing to help with additional household responsibilities, including errands, grocery shopping, meal preparation, household organization, and scheduling assistance. When a position includes a significant amount of household support beyond childcare, a Family Assistant or Household Manager role may be a more appropriate fit.
During our consultation process, we'll help you determine which type of household professional best aligns with your family's needs and create a customized job description designed to attract the right candidates.

We take a proactive approach to recruiting and do not rely solely on job postings. Our candidates come from a variety of trusted sources, including personal referrals, our extensive network of childcare professionals, local colleges and universities, industry connections, community groups, and targeted recruiting efforts. Every search is approached individually, and we actively recruit candidates specifically for your family's needs.
Any candidate must successfully complete our screening process. This includes multiple agency interviews, a detailed review of their childcare experience, verification of qualifications, social media screening, and comprehensive reference checks. We speak directly with both professional and personal references using an in-depth verification process designed to confirm employment history, caregiving experience, reliability, communication style, and overall fit.
Once a family has selected their preferred candidate, we facilitate a comprehensive background screening, which will include criminal history searches, motor vehicle record checks, Social Security number verification, sex offender registry screening, civil records searches, national wants and warrants searches.
Our goal is not simply to identify qualified candidates, but to ensure every family is introduced to caregivers who meet our high standards of professionalism, experience, and character.

Inviting someone into your home is incredibly personal, and building a successful working relationship takes time. Even when a candidate is an excellent fit on paper, there is often an adjustment period as families, children, and caregivers learn each other's routines, communication styles, and expectations.
Because of this, we don't view our role as ending once a placement is made. We remain available after placement to provide guidance, answer questions, and help facilitate conversations when challenges arise. In many cases, concerns can be resolved through open communication, clear expectations, and a willingness from both parties to work together toward a solution.
We encourage families and employees to address concerns early rather than allowing frustrations to build. Sometimes the most successful long-term relationships are strengthened through honest conversations and mutual understanding. If difficult discussions are needed, we're happy to provide advice, support, and perspective based on our experience working with families and household professionals.
Of course, we also understand that not every placement works out despite everyone's best efforts. That's why every permanent placement includes our 90-day replacement guarantee. If a placement ends within the guarantee period, we will conduct a new search and replacement placement at no additional agency fee.
-
Absolutely. We work with families seeking a wide variety of schedules, including part-time, full-time, after-school, and flexible childcare arrangements. Whether you need support a few afternoons per week or a more traditional schedule, we're happy to help determine the best solution for your family's needs.
It's important to note that part-time positions can sometimes take longer to fill than full-time roles, as they appeal to a smaller pool of candidates. For that reason, we recommend beginning your search as early as possible. With thoughtful planning and a targeted recruitment strategy, we've successfully placed caregivers in positions requiring as little as 8 hours per week.

Benefits can vary based on the position, schedule, and individual candidate, but offering a competitive compensation package is one of the best ways to attract and retain exceptional childcare professionals. We encourage families to think about the benefits they would value in their own careers and apply that same perspective when hiring a household employee.
Common benefits offered to professional nannies include:
Paid vacation (PTO)
Paid sick leave
Paid holidays
Guaranteed hours
Health insurance coverage or a monthly healthcare stipend
Mileage reimbursement when using a personal vehicle for work
Meals during working hours
Cell phone reimbursement
Retirement contributions (such as a 401(k) or IRA contribution)
Professional development opportunities and continuing education
Gym or wellness memberships
Discretionary performance or holiday bonuses
The most competitive positions typically include a combination of guaranteed hours, paid time off, paid holidays, and some form of healthcare assistance.
During the placement process, we are happy to provide guidance on compensation and benefits based on your family's needs, current market conditions, and the type of candidate you hope to attract.

In most cases, your nanny will be considered a household employee, which means your family is responsible for complying with applicable tax and employment laws. Nannies generally cannot be classified as independent contractors and should not be paid via a 1099.
The good news is that handling payroll is much easier than many families expect. Several reputable household payroll companies specialize in nanny employment and can manage tax withholding, payroll processing, year-end tax documents, direct deposit, and other employer responsibilities on your behalf.
We're happy to discuss your options and connect you with trusted payroll providers to help ensure your family remains compliant and your nanny is paid accurately and on time.
-
Like any employee, nannies may occasionally need time off due to illness, vacations, or personal commitments. We encourage families to discuss expectations regarding PTO, sick time, and backup care during the hiring process. While we cannot guarantee emergency replacement coverage, we are often able to assist families in locating temporary care when available.
-
Yes. We strongly recommend that every family and household employee have a written work agreement outlining compensation, schedule, benefits, responsibilities, paid time off, and workplace expectations. We are happy to provide guidance and assist in creating a clear agreement that helps set both parties up for success.
