FAQs
-
Peak Nanny Agency works with families throughout Colorado who are seeking professional childcare and household support. Many of our clients come to us through referrals from past clients, local parenting communities, healthcare professionals, schools, online searches, and word-of-mouth recommendations. Before accepting a search, we take the time to learn about each family's needs, expectations, compensation package, and household dynamics to ensure we are presenting opportunities that align with our candidates' goals and preferences.
We believe successful placements require a great fit for both the family and the caregiver, which is why we carefully evaluate every opportunity before introducing it to our network.
-
We take great pride in representing highly qualified childcare professionals and household staff. Every candidate who moves forward with our agency completes a thorough screening process designed to verify experience, professionalism, and overall fit for the families we serve.
Our screening process includes:
Multiple interviews
Detailed review of childcare and employment history
Professional and personal reference checks
Social media screening
Resume review and verification of relevant experience
Verification of certifications and qualifications when applicable
Once a family has selected a candidate and an offer has been accepted, we conduct a comprehensive background screening. This may include:
Criminal background investigation
Motor vehicle record (MVR) check
Social Security number verification
Sex offender registry screening
Civil records search
National wants and warrants search
Education verification when requested by the family
We intentionally wait until a family and candidate have mutually committed to moving forward before conducting background screenings. This allows us to utilize one of the most thorough screening processes available while recognizing that both families and candidates are often exploring multiple opportunities throughout the interview process.
Our goal is to ensure that every candidate we represent meets our high standards of professionalism, reliability, and character, while helping families hire with confidence.

Getting started is easy! Simply complete our candidate application by clicking the link below. Once you've submitted your application, please email a current resume and a professional photo to kayce@peaknannyagency.com.
After reviewing your application materials, we'll reach out to qualified candidates to schedule an initial interview and discuss your experience, career goals, availability, and the types of positions you're seeking. If selected to move forward, you'll complete our screening process and become eligible for placement opportunities with families throughout Colorado.
We look forward to learning more about you and helping you find a position that aligns with your skills, experience, and professional goals.

Every placement is unique, and there is no guaranteed timeline for finding the right position. Factors such as current market conditions, seasonality, location, schedule flexibility, experience, qualifications, and the type of role you're seeking can all influence how quickly a match is made.
Some candidates find a position within a few weeks of joining our agency, while others may take longer as we wait for an opportunity that aligns with their skills, preferences, and career goals. Our focus is not simply on finding you a job quickly—it's on helping you find the right job.
Candidates who are responsive, professional, flexible, and engaged throughout the interview process tend to have the greatest success. We encourage open communication and will do our best to keep you informed about opportunities that may be a good fit for your experience and interests.

Your resume is often the first impression both our agency and prospective families will have of you. A well-organized, professional resume helps us understand your experience, qualifications, and strengths, while allowing families to quickly evaluate whether your background aligns with their needs.
A strong resume not only improves your chances of being considered for positions, but also helps us advocate for you more effectively throughout the placement process.
To ensure your application receives full consideration, your resume should:
List all relevant childcare positions in reverse chronological order (most recent first)
Include start and end dates (month and year) for each position
Provide separate entries for each long-term childcare role (rather than combining multiple families into a single listing)
Include the ages of the children when you began each position
Clearly indicate whether the role was full-time, part-time, temporary, summer-only, on-call, etc.
Outline key responsibilities, accomplishments, and duties
Include a brief explanation for leaving each position when appropriate
Address significant gaps in employment history
Include any additional professional experience, education, certifications, and relevant skills
Because families rely heavily on resumes when evaluating candidates, incomplete resumes can significantly delay the review process. We encourage applicants to take the time to create a detailed and accurate resume that fully reflects their experience and qualifications.
-
We require references as part of the initial application process so we can verify that candidates are able to provide strong professional and personal references when needed. However, we do not immediately begin contacting them.
In most cases, we wait until a candidate has had a successful interview with a family and both parties are interested in moving forward before conducting reference checks. This approach helps protect your professional relationships and prevents your references from receiving multiple calls unnecessarily.
Once we reach the reference-check stage, we conduct thorough conversations designed to verify employment history, caregiving experience, reliability, professionalism, and overall fit for the position. Our goal is to gain a comprehensive understanding of your strengths while respecting the time and effort of those who have agreed to serve as your references.

While parenting and helping care for younger siblings can provide valuable childcare skills and experience, they are not considered professional childcare experience for the purposes of agency placement.
Professional childcare involves working in another family's home, adapting to different parenting styles, maintaining professional boundaries, managing employer expectations, and following household routines and philosophies that may differ from your own. These are important skills that are typically developed through hands-on experience working with children in a professional setting.
The families we work with are specifically seeking candidates who have prior professional childcare experience, whether through nannying, daycare, preschool, teaching, camp programs, or other structured childcare environments. While personal childcare experience is certainly valuable, it does not replace the professional experience required for most of the positions we represent.
-
If you're unhappy in a position, we encourage you to contact us before making any decisions. Inviting someone into a home—and becoming part of a family's daily life—is incredibly personal, and even excellent placements can experience challenges as everyone adjusts to expectations, communication styles, routines, and boundaries.
Because of this, we provide ongoing support after placement and are happy to help navigate difficult conversations, workplace concerns, and misunderstandings that may arise. Many issues can be resolved through open communication and clear expectations, and we have extensive experience helping both families and caregivers work through these situations successfully.
Of course, we also understand that not every placement is the right long-term fit. If you've made a genuine effort to address concerns and feel the position is no longer sustainable, we'll help you create a professional transition plan, discuss appropriate notice, and provide guidance on how to communicate your decision respectfully.
Our goal is not simply to make placements—it's to help create successful, long-term relationships for both families and caregivers. When challenges arise, we're here to support you every step of the way.
-
No. Our placement fees are paid by the hiring family, not by our candidates.
While there is no cost to work with Peak Nanny Agency, we do maintain high standards for the caregivers and household professionals we represent. We expect candidates to demonstrate professionalism, reliability, honesty, strong communication skills, and respect throughout the hiring process and their employment.
This includes responding promptly to messages, arriving on time for interviews and shifts, communicating openly and professionally, maintaining confidentiality, and following through on commitments. Our reputation is built on the quality of the candidates we represent, and we are committed to helping both families and caregivers create successful long-term partnerships.
-
Never. Peak Nanny Agency is compensated by the hiring family, not by our candidates. The rate you negotiate and agree upon with a family is the rate you earn.
We actively advocate for fair compensation and industry-standard benefits, helping candidates understand current market rates and navigate compensation discussions with confidence. While we may provide guidance based on experience, qualifications, and market conditions, you ultimately determine the rate and benefits you are seeking.
Once hired, you will be paid directly by the family through their chosen payroll provider, and Peak Nanny Agency does not receive any portion of your wages.
-
Compensation depends on your experience, qualifications, responsibilities, and the type of position you're seeking. While Colorado's minimum wage is $19.29 per hour as of 2026, professional nanny positions in the Denver area typically pay well above minimum wage.
Many of the positions we represent fall within the mid-$20s to mid-$30s per hour, with highly experienced nannies, household managers, and specialized caregivers often earning more. Factors such as infant experience, education, flexibility, household management responsibilities, and schedule demands can all impact compensation.
We're happy to discuss current market rates and help you determine a realistic pay range based on your unique experience and qualifications.
-
Absolutely. We believe professional caregivers should be compensated fairly for their experience, education, and responsibilities. We're happy to provide guidance on current market rates, industry-standard benefits, and compensation expectations. While final employment terms are agreed upon between the family and candidate, we're available to help facilitate productive conversations throughout the hiring process.
-
Yes. We regularly work with candidates who are relocating to Colorado. Depending on the position and timeline, initial interviews can often be conducted virtually. Candidates should be prepared to relocate before their start date and be legally authorized to work in the United States.
-
No. We want every placement to be a great fit for both the family and the caregiver. You're never obligated to interview for or accept a position that doesn't align with your schedule, compensation requirements, location preferences, or career goals. We encourage honest communication so we can continue presenting opportunities that are a strong match for what you're seeking.
-
We place a variety of household professionals, including:
Full-time nannies
Part-time nannies
Family assistants
Household managers
Temporary and backup caregivers
Mother's helpers
Housekeepers and household support staff
Position availability varies throughout the year based on family demand and market conditions.
-
While we work hard to connect qualified candidates with excellent opportunities, we cannot guarantee employment. Hiring decisions are ultimately made by each family, and placement timelines vary based on experience, qualifications, availability, and market conditions. Our goal is to present opportunities that align with your skills and career goals while supporting you throughout the process.
-
Our relationship doesn't end once you've accepted a position. We remain available to provide guidance, answer questions, and help navigate workplace concerns that may arise. We believe successful placements are built on communication and ongoing support, and we're happy to be a resource for both caregivers and families after placement.
