Compensation: $30/hour
Guaranteed Hours: 30 hours per week
Schedule: Monday–Friday, flexible schedule with morning, afternoon, and occasional evening needs (would love someone that is open to working some weekends as well).
Start Date: As soon as the right candidate is found
Commitment: Ideally 1–2 years
Position Overview
A warm, outgoing, and incredibly active family of four in Niwot, Colorado, is seeking a dependable, organized, energetic, and, above all, flexible Part-Time Family Assistant / Nanny to help manage their busy household and the ever-changing schedules of their two children, ages 12 and 13.
Both children attend school in the Gunbarrel area and are competitive swimmers, making athletics a significant part of the family's everyday life. Between early morning practices, afternoon training sessions, weekend swim meets, school commitments, and two parents balancing demanding professional schedules, there are a lot of moving pieces!
The family is looking for someone who can become a true extension of their household, helping with everything from school pickups and swim practice transportation to errands, household organization, snack preparation, appointment coordination, and whatever else the day may bring.
Flexibility is the single most important quality the family is seeking.
Rather than hiring for a completely predetermined schedule or rigid set of responsibilities, the family is hoping to find someone who is comfortable stepping into a dynamic environment and helping them determine what this position will look like long-term.
They recognize that their needs may evolve as the children's schedules change, and they are excited to work collaboratively with the right candidate to create a role that is both fulfilling and beneficial for everyone involved.
This is not a traditional nanny position centered around entertaining children or planning activities. Instead, it is an opportunity for someone who genuinely enjoys the logistics of running a busy household, thrives on variety, and can confidently take ownership of responsibilities without needing constant direction.
The ideal candidate will be someone who can anticipate needs, problem-solve independently, adapt to last-minute changes, and maintain a positive attitude when plans inevitably shift.
Schedule & Flexibility
30 Guaranteed Hours Per Week | $30/Hour
The family is seeking someone with a flexible weekday schedule who is comfortable with a combination of early mornings, afternoons, and occasional evenings.
While the exact distribution of hours is still being determined and will probably be changing per season, the family anticipates building the schedule around the children's school and competitive swimming commitments, with additional time dedicated to family assistant and household responsibilities.
Afternoon Coverage — Primary Priority
Monday–Friday | Approximately 3:00 PM–6:00 PM, with flexibility for later evenings
Afternoons are the family's most consistent and immediate need.
Responsibilities will generally include school pickup around 3:20 PM, getting the children home for a quick snack and transition, and transporting them to their respective swim practices.
Because the children's practices take place at different times and locations, the ideal candidate will be comfortable managing overlapping schedules with a secondary babysitter and / or parent that is home, coordinating logistics, and adjusting as needed.
Some afternoons may begin earlier to accommodate errands, household tasks, or appointment coordination, while others may extend later depending on practice schedules.
Early Morning Coverage
Monday–Thursday | As Needed
The children also participate in early morning swim practices, with some drop-offs needed as early as 5:45 AM.
The family would love to find someone who is open to assisting with morning transportation, occasional practice pickups around 7:30 AM, and school drop-offs around 8:00 AM.
Morning needs may vary from week to week, so flexibility and communication will be essential.
Additional Hours & Responsibilities
Beyond transportation, the remaining guaranteed hours may be dedicated to:
Grocery shopping, errands, and household organization.
Coordinating appointments and managing family schedules.
Snack preparation, simple meal preparation, and light household upkeep.
Assisting with the family's dogs and other animals.
Helping prepare for upcoming practices, competitions, or family travel.
Additional support during school breaks or when the family's existing childcare help is unavailable.
There may also be opportunities for occasional weekend assistance during swim meets, as well as house sitting or pet sitting when the family travels.
The family understands that finding the right fit is more important than having every detail of the schedule figured out from day one. They are hoping to find someone who is excited to grow into the position, communicate openly, and help establish a routine that works well for everyone.
While the family values flexibility, they also understand the importance of respecting their employee's time and will work collaboratively to communicate scheduling needs and expectations.
Key Responsibilities

About the Family
This is a fun-loving, welcoming, and active family that values health, athletics, travel, animals, and spending time together.
Their two children are described as kind, respectful, intelligent, and hardworking. Both are dedicated competitive swimmers who understand the importance of commitment, teamwork, and showing up prepared.
The parents take a positive, proactive approach to parenting, emphasizing communication, guidance, and teaching rather than punishment. They value independence, responsibility, and helping their children develop strong character.
One parent works primarily from home but maintains a demanding professional schedule, while the other works outside the home and travels extensively, including frequent international trips.
The family has previously worked with several wonderful college students and childcare providers, many of whom have developed lasting relationships with the children. They hope to find someone who will feel equally welcomed and appreciated in their home.
While the household is incredibly busy, the family is friendly, considerate, and laid-back in their interactions. They want their Family Assistant to feel comfortable and confident jumping into the daily routine.
Above all, they are looking for someone they can truly depend on — a capable, trustworthy individual who can take ownership of responsibilities and provide peace of mind during their busiest days.
