A warm, busy family in Denver’s Wash Park neighborhood is seeking an experienced, dependable, and proactive Family Assistant/Nanny to become a long-term part of their household. The family has two children, a 3.5-year-old and an infant (currently almost 4 months old), and is looking for someone to begin in November as Mom prepares to return from maternity leave.
This is a wonderful opportunity for someone who loves children but also genuinely enjoys the family assistant and household management side of a role. With two demanding careers, two young children, and an au pair already in the home, the family is looking for a steady, capable person who can become a stabilizing force within their household for years to come.
The ideal candidate is kind, responsible, caring, detail-oriented, and a true self-starter. Someone who can walk into a home, see what needs to be done, and jump in without needing a detailed list every day will thrive with this family.
Schedule
30–35 hours per week, Monday–Friday
The family has some flexibility in how the schedule is structured and would love to discuss what works best with the right candidate. Their primary preference is approximately:
Monday–Friday | 8:30 AM–3:00/3:30 PM
The family currently has a live-in au pair, so the nanny and au pair will work together to provide consistent coverage throughout the day (au pair will work early morning and nights and the local nanny will be the sandwich in between). The family is particularly interested in finding someone who can provide long-term stability across future au pair transitions.
Mom works as a consultant and has a hybrid and occasionally travel-heavy schedule, while Dad is a surgeon who typically works onsite Monday–Thursday and is generally off on Fridays. Mom's schedule can vary considerably from week to week, so flexibility and the ability to pivot between childcare and family-assistant responsibilities will be important.
The Role
This position is a blend of hands-on childcare and family assistance.
Some days may involve taking the baby to story time, caring for the children, managing naps and bottles, and helping with the preschooler's routine. Other days, particularly when Mom is home and able to spend more time with the children, the Family Assistant may shift gears and tackle household tasks, meal preparation, errands, or whatever will make the family's week run more smoothly.
They would love to find someone who understands what it takes to keep a busy household with young children running smoothly and is comfortable taking ownership of the little things that can quickly pile up.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities will naturally fluctuate depending on the family's needs that week and may include:
Providing loving, attentive, and developmentally appropriate care for the infant and 3.5-year-old
Planning age-appropriate activities, outings, library story times, and opportunities for play and development
Managing bottles, meals, naps, diapering, and children's daily routines
Preschool-related assistance as needed
Preparing meals and snacks for the children
Assisting with basic family meal prep
Laundry
Keeping children's spaces organized
Light housekeeping and general household tidying
Helping reset the home throughout the day
Running household errands
Grocery pickups or shopping as needed
Handling tasks such as Amazon returns, package returns, and miscellaneous household errands
Keeping track of household needs and proactively addressing tasks
Working collaboratively with the family's au pair
Stepping into household/family-assistant responsibilities when Mom or Dad is spending time with the children
This family is specifically looking for someone who has experience running a home or supporting the operations of a busy household. They value initiative and would love someone who notices what needs attention rather than waiting to be asked.
The Family
The family relocated to Denver in January and is excited to continue building their community here. They describe themselves as running a "tight ship" because both parents have demanding careers, but they are warm, appreciative employers who treat their caregivers like family.
They have developed wonderful relationships with previous and current au pairs and nannies and are happy to provide references from caregivers who have worked in their home.
Mom works a hybrid consulting schedule and may travel approximately 3–4 nights per month, although some months or weeks can be busier. Dad works onsite Monday–Thursday.
When Mom works from home, she is generally very busy and prefers for the nanny to continue the children's routine as though she were not home. The family believes in clear boundaries and trusts their caregiver to take ownership of the day.
Communication is important to them, and they anticipate frequent communication via text or phone when necessary, even during weeks when everyone may be too busy for much face-to-face conversation.
There are no pets in the home and no major allergies or medical conditions to manage.
Parenting Style
The family believes in loving care paired with firm, consistent boundaries. Their approach includes clear communication, warnings, and age-appropriate consequences when necessary.
They are looking for a caregiver who can confidently maintain routines and expectations while still being warm, patient, and nurturing.
Their Ideal Candidate
The family is open-minded about a candidate's background and is placing a particularly high value on stability, maturity, and long-term commitment.
Their ideal Family Assistant/Nanny is someone who:
Is kind, caring, responsible, and dependable
Is detail-oriented and highly organized
Is proactive and a natural self-starter
Has experience caring for infants and preschool-aged children
Has experience managing or helping run a household
Is comfortable working alongside an au pair
Can seamlessly pivot between childcare and household responsibilities
Communicates well but does not require constant direction
Is confident maintaining boundaries and routines with children
Wants to become part of a family's "team"
Is genuinely looking for a long-term position of 3+ years
Is vaccinated for flu and COVID
Above all, the family wants someone who is stable and invested in finding their next long-term home. They are less concerned with fitting a particular candidate "type" and more interested in finding a capable person who fits naturally into their family and wants to grow with them.
Driving
The family will typically have a vehicle available for use during working hours.
Travel & Overnights
Travel and overnight care are not requirements of the position.
The family's au pair will generally receive the first opportunity to assist with these needs. However, if both parents travel, they would love to have a nanny who is occasionally interested in tag-teaming coverage with the au pair. Any additional availability in this area would be considered a bonus rather than an expectation.
Compensation & Benefits

30–35 hours per week
Long-term position — ideally 3+ years
The family also offers:
Guaranteed weekly hours
Paid time off
Paid sick leave
Paid holidays
Holiday bonus
Additional "spot bonuses" for going above and beyond
Family vehicle generally available for work-related driving
Mileage reimbursement when a personal vehicle is required for work-related driving
